Like the Blood Thirster, the first squad of Blood letters is near completion. Once I decided on how to paint them it went fast. The only thing that I was concerned about was if the Krylon primer would hold up and it did. Monday I'll be picking up another can and prime the rest of the army.

Over at Hoot's place the other night

I continued basing my bloodletters.




Meanwhile Hoot got busy on his Cadian Squad.





While trying to liberate a soldier's arm from his body, Hoot missed and speared his Xacto blade into his thumb.


Crunch purchased two Imperial terrain pieces.





He also got busy assembling his Necron Warriors

The Bloodletters took a Devlin mud bath followed by some brown ink on the rocks. I'm satisfied with the results so far, especially with the Burgandy primer (considering it was an alternative color).





Kharnak is the first Pewter model I used this color on. I wasn't very pleased with the way it was turning out (pink meat), but after a wash of 50:50 Devlin mud/Badab black it's starting to look promising.

And they shall have paint!

Today started out pretty cold and nasty, lots of rain, then cleared up around noon. Maybe it was just a low pressure front from the pacific coast? Perhaps it's the Chaos Gods demanding that their followers get a fresh coat? It's not my place to question, but to paint!

I left the other top half of a grinder in the death forge (aka my desk). He's still being punished for stealing (and eating) my ham sandwich, and is being punished by getting a green stuff makeover.

Ready to go clubbin' um-cha-um-cha-um-cha....

Last night I got everything ready to prime outside for when I got off work today (which is rare since I'm lazy). It seems the Gods have other things in mind, though, since today the tempature dropped and it's been raining non stop. NO blood for the Blood god today.

Still, I managed to get a test model done for some primers I picked up. Here are the results so far.



The one on the left was done with two quick coats of Krylon Burgandy and a Badab black wash. The left one is Krylon Flat Black followed by two thin coats of Mechrite red base.





Painting time: about 3 mins


Painting time: roughly 30 mins

Overall I like the results of the Burgundy coat better, especially since it saves a lot of time. For the purpose of this army I want to test my skills at faster painting troop choices. I also tried this on a Pewter model with much different results; it turned out with a pinkish hue and was scraping a little on the edges. Once the weather clears up I can test it some more.
